Women's Golf Finishes Sixth At Mason Rudolph Championship

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Junior Carolin Landmann shot a one-over par 73 and the Green Wave shot a team-best 300 in the final day as the Tulane University women's golf team fired a team 300 in the third round to finish sixth at the Mason Rudolph Championship hosted by Vanderbilt University at the Legends Club of Tennessee.
Sophomore Lindsay Hulwick led the team with an eight-over par 224 to finish tied for 10th, and Landmann finished two strokes back with a plus-10 226 to finish tied for 13th. As a team, the Green Wave opened the tournament on Monday with a 316 in the first round, followed by a 301 in the second round before finishing with a 53-over par 917.
Three of the five Tulane golfers participating in the event posted season lows in the final round with Landmann shooting a 73, freshman Jessica Issler firing a 75 and senior Kathy Schafer finishing with a 77. Rookie Lili Alvarez (80-73-77=230) and Issler (85-80-75=240) finished tied for 26th and 57th, respectively, and Schafer rounded out the scoring with a 243 (82-84-77) to finish tied for 64th.
Host Vanderbilt won the team title with a 14-over 878, including a tournament-best 285 in round two and a 291 in round three. Arizona finished nine strokes back with a plus-23 887. The Green Wave, the only Conference USA team competing in the tourney, finished ahead of two Pac-10 squads and a pair of SEC teams, including LSU which finished 14th.
In the individual standings, Vandy's Courtney Woods used a strong final 36 holes to finish with a two-under par 214 and sneak past Arizona's Erica Blasberg who finished with an even 216. The Green Wave returns to action on Friday, Oct. 4 when the team travels to Chapel Hill, N.C., to participate in the Franklin Street Trust/Tar Heel Invitational.
