NEW ORLEANS, La. - - The Tulane Athletic Department will hold its annual Fan Day this Saturday, August 16th, giving Green Wave fans the opportunity to meet their favorite Wave fall athletes at the Westfeldt Facility located behind the Wilson Center on Ben Weiner Drive. The free event will begin at 9 a.m. and continute until 1 p.m.
The Fan Day festivities kick off with an open football practice beginning at 9 a.m. Following the scrimmage, and beginning at approximately 11 a.m., fans can mingle with Green Wave football, soccer, volleyball and cross country student-athlete and coaches. Fans can get autographs or take pictures with their favorite athletes, while Green Wave merchandise and tickets will be available for purchase. In addition, music, food, drinks and games for kids will be provided.
Tulane football season ticket holders will be able to pick up their 2002 Hawaii Bowl Commemorative plaques and Think Green yard signs will be available.
"This is always a great event for both our fans and our student-athletes," Tulane Associate Athletic Director Scott Sidwell said. "It gives the fans from the community the opportunity to get an early glimpse of the football team and to meet many of the young men and women who represent Tulane in our falls sports."
The Green Wave football team opens the 2003 season on Monday, Sept. 1, with a game against defending Conference USA Champion TCU in the Louisiana Superdome. The Labor Day contest will be broadcast to a national television audience on ESPN with a 7 p.m. CST kick-off. Tickets are available by calling (504) 861-WAVE.
