Tulane Fan Day Scheduled for Saturday, August 28th

All Tulane fans and supporters, as well as members of the community, are invited to participate in Tulane Athletics' annual fall Fan Day on Saturday, August 28 from 6:30-9 p.m. at the Westfeldt Facility on the Tulane campus. Members of the Green Wave football, volleyball, soccer and cross country teams will be on hand to meet and greet fans, and will play with kids who attend Fan Day at several "interactive" stations set up on the fields. Kids will be able to throw with the Tulane receivers, kick the soccer ball with members of the soccer team and hit with the volleyball players, for example. In addition to participating with the Green Wave student-athletes, kids can play on inflatable games which will be set up on the fields. Team members and coaches will be available for autographs and photos, while the band "Island Fever" will entertain the crowd with their repertoire of songs which includes Jimmy Buffet, Santana and a blend of beach-island music. Several Tulane Athletics sponsors will be on hand with coupons and giveaways. Fans can browse the Tulane Gift Shop and purchase tickets for the upcoming season, and pick up free copies of the 2004 football, soccer and volleyball posters and schedule cards. In addition, food and drink will be available for purchase. The event itself, as well as parking, is free. "We've moved Fan Day closer to the opening of our fall seasons and have changed the format a little to get our student-athletes more directly involved with kids, while also moving it later in the day" said Steve Walsh, Tulane Director of Marketing. "We think that kids will have a great time playing catch with a Tulane quarterback or kicking a goal against a member of the soccer team. With the food, music, games, shopping, autographs and giveaways, there is still plenty for the adults as well." Unlike in years past, the Tulane Football team will not practice at the Westfeldt Facility prior to Fan Day. However, most Green Wave football practices will be open to the public during the preseason. Tulane players report for preseason practice on Monday, August 9 with the first workout scheduled for Tuesday, August 10. Season and individual game tickets for the 2004 Green Wave Football season are on sale now through the Tulane Athletics Ticket Office in the James W. Wilson Center or by calling 504-861-WAVE. Season tickets are just $140 for the six-game schedule while a Family Pack of four tickets (2 adult and 2 youth) to every Tulane game is just $180. Single game tickets are available for $30 (sideline) and $15 (end zone). The Green Wave football team opens the season Saturday, Sept. 4 in a nationally-televised contest at Mississippi State before returning home to take on the Florida A&M Rattlers in the Emerald Coast Classic on Sept. 11 at 6 p.m. in the Louisiana Superdome.
