The Tulane Spring "First Pitch" Luncheon featuring Green Wave Baseball coach Rick Jones and the rest of the Tulane spring sports coaches, is officially sold out, Tulane Athletics Fund Director Lacey Momic announced Wednesday.
The third in its series of preseason luncheons with Green Wave coaches and administrators is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 10th at Smith & Wollensky's on Poydras Street in New Orleans. All Green Wave fans are invited to attend at a cost of just $15, which includes the buffet lunch as well as the program. Free valet parking will be available for the event, which begins with lunch at 11:30 a.m.
One day before Tulane's regular season baseball opener, fans will hear from Rick Jones, head coach of the preseason top-ranked Green Wave baseball team, as well as Tulane Director of Athletics Rick Dickson. Track and field coach Heather Van Norman will talk about the return of men's track and field this spring, while golf coaches Tom Shaw and Sue Bower, and tennis coaches David Schumacher and Robert Klein will each preview their teams and the spring competition seasons.
The Green Wave enters the spring semester with four teams ranked in the Top 20 in their respective sports. In addition to Jones' top-ranked club, the women's golf team is ranked 10th by Golfweek Magazine, while the women's tennis team has attained its highest ranking in school history as they check in at No. 9 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll. The men's tennis team, meanwhile, is ranked 19th by the ITA.
Seating is limited at the First Pitch Luncheon and anyone planning to attend is strongly encouraged to RSVP in advance to reserve a spot. Fans can RSVP by calling the Tulane Athletics Ticket Office at 504-861-WAVE, or by sending an e-mail to gowavego@tulane.edu.
