NEW ORLEANS - The 2005 Tulane Athletics Fund Spring Tour gets underway this May as Green Wave coaches and athletics staff, including new men's basketball coach Dave Dickerson and athletic director Rick Dickson, fan out across the state and across the country to update Green Wave fans and alumni in person on the latest happenings in Tulane Athletics.
The Spring Tour is a chance for Tulane coaches and fans in each locale to meet in a relaxed setting where coaches can talk about the latest happenings in their programs and the outlook for the upcoming season, while fans can ask questions and learn first-hand what is going on with the Green Wave in New Orleans. Coaches taking part in the Spring Tour include Dickerson, Chris Scelfo (football), Rick Jones (baseball), Lisa Stockton (women's basketball), Liz Kritza (volleyball), Betsy Anderson (soccer) and more, while the entire TAF staff and other Green Wave administrators also attend different events.
In addition to meeting and talking with Tulane coaches during the Spring Tour, fans are urged to take the opportunity to continue to support Tulane's more than 320 student-athletes by renewing or upgrading their donation to the Tulane Athletics Fund. TAF's fiscal year ends June 30th and the Spring Tour is the beginning of the "homestretch" for the TAF Annual Fund, which has a goal of $2.5 million in 2005.
"The Spring Tour is a critical part of our TAF Spring Drive and it has become more popular and successful each year," said Lacey Momic, Director of the Tulane Athletics Fund. "Our coaches enjoy going out to these events outside of New Orleans to visit one-on-one with our supporters, and for our fans, it's a great chance to learn about all the great things happening with Tulane Athletics first-hand."
Around the state, events are planned for Houma, Lake Charles, and Lafayette, among other locales. The scope of each outing will vary in 2005 with luncheons held in some locales, dinner in others and a reception or party at other spots. Invitations to the 2005 Spring Tour events are hitting mailboxes now, but for more information, call Corey Guerrera in the Tulane Athletics Fund Office at 504-865-5356 or 1-866-GIVE-2TU (Toll Free).
In addition to the in-state events, Tulane Athletics administrators and coaches will be in attendance at Alumni Association gatherings in Atlanta (Saturday, April 30) and San Francisco (Saturday, May 14). Tulane fans in those areas are invited to check with your local alumni chapter or with the TAF Office for more information.
