NEW ORLEANS - Fans, friends and supporters of Tulane Athletics are invited to join the Ray Hester Chapter of the Tulane Athletics Fund and the T-Club, Tulane's former letterwinners organization, for a day of golf, food and fun at the Bayou Barriere Golf Course on Saturday, July 16, 2005 at the fifth annual Conk Naquin Memorial Golf Classic.
The annual tournament, which benefits the student-athletes of Tulane University, will feature former Green Wave players and coaches, including football great Terrence Jones and baseball Hall of Famer Cary Livingston, as well as members of the current Wave coaching staff. Participants will have the chance to meet and possibly play in a foursome with one of their favorite Green Wave coaches in a relaxed setting at the course in Belle Chasse, La.
Cost of the tournament is $85 per player and includes green fees and cart, a tournament shirt, food and beverages and prize drawings. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams and there will also be individual prizes for closest to the hole and the longest drive. Sponsorships are available beginning for as little as $100, all the way up to $1,000.
The tournament is named in honor in the late Conk Naquin, who founded the Ray Hester Chapter. The Ray Hester Chapter has contributed over $100,000 to Tulane Athletics over the years and has established two endowed scholarships.
