New Orleans- The inaugural Tulane Classic golf tournament will be held on Monday, March 30, 2009 at English Turn Golf and Country Club, Tulane Athletic Director Rick Dickson announced today.
The Tulane Classic will be Tulane Athletics' premier spring event and will feature current and former Green Wave student-athletes and coaches from all eras and teams. Registration opens today, with individual costs beginning at $200 and a foursome registration fee of $750. Tulane fans are invited to participate, with all proceeds from the event directly benefitting Tulane's student-athletes and their endeavors in competition, in the classroom, and in the community.
"The Tulane Classic will be a memorable day of fun, friends, and golf at one of the finest courses in Southeast Louisiana" said Dickson. "Whether you are a scratch golfer or novice, the Tulane Classic will be an experience you will never forget in support of a truly worthwhile cause -- Tulane student-athletes," he added. "We are pleased to work with English Turn Golf and Country Club to kick-off this inaugural event in support of our outstanding young men and women."
The Tulane Classic highlights an excellent week of Green Wave activities. The weekend preceding the tournament, March 27-29, Tulane baseball hosts the University of Houston at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. Finally, on Tuesday, March 31, the Green Wave ballclub will host their in-state rival, the LSU Tigers. All participants in the Tulane Classic will receive a free ticket to the game, which has been traditionally sold out prior to game day.
