
Rob Segedin Named as Pre-Season All-American

New Orleans- Sophomore infielder and right-handed pitcher Rob Segedin (Old Tappan, N.J.) was named to the 2009 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Preseason All-American third team, announced the organization. Segedin, who finished his collegiate rookie season with impressive numbers, also served the Green Wave on the hill, where the righty earned five saves, the most by a Green Wave freshman since 2005. He shared the team's batting average title (.322), becoming the first Tulane rookie to lead the team in hitting since 1975 and his 59 RBI was the most by a freshman since 2001.
Segedin was also named to the preseason watch list for the Brooks Wallace Award in November. The award is given to the nation's top collegiate baseball player in conjunction with the College Baseball Hall of Fame's annual induction festivities. Tulane senior infielder Seth Henry was also selected to the list.
