2009 Mercedes-Benz Final Round Results

NEW ORLEANS - The 20th-ranked Tulane women's golf team saved its best effort for the final round of the 2009 Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships as the team combined for a 14-over par 302 total on Sunday to post a 13th place finish at the Fox Den Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn.

"We didn't play like we wanted to this weekend," Tulane head coach John Thomas Horton said. "This was our last tournament of the fall, so we've got a few months to prepare for the spring. Overall, I thought we had a very good fall. I'm very proud of our team's hard work and we'll make adjustments over the next four months on working to improve both individually and as a team. We'll be ready to go when February rolls around."

Tulane's 35th-ranked Linn Gustafsson led the way for the Wave on Sunday with a 2-over par 74. The junior completed the three-day event with a 9-over par 225, which was good enough for a 25th-place finish.

Junior Janine Fellows, the nation's 63-ranked player, slipped to a 39th place finish with a 6-over par 78 on Sunday and completed the Championships with 12-over par 228.

Sophomore Stephanie Wagstaff matched Fellows' effort with a similar 6-over par 78 and turned on a 16-over par 232 for a 60th place showing.

Freshman Maribel Lopez Porras fired her best round of the event with a 3-over par 75 on Sunday and finished one stroke behind Wagstaff with a 17-over par 233 total, which placed her 62nd.

Like Porras, sophomore Samantha Troyanovich also put her best foot forward on the final day with a 3-over par 75 and moved up to finish 66th with an 18-over par 234.

Tennessee made it a clean sweep on Sunday by capturing the team title by 19 strokes and Nathalie Mansson took home medalist honors by winning a five-hole playoff over Louisville's Laura Anderson.
