Overall thoughts on the weekend
"We're very excited about both meets this weekend. I could see the positive anticipation of racing building as the week has progressed. We're starting off with some great competition on Friday and then going head-to-head with Arkansas and North Texas on Saturday."
On the North Texas Relays
"The relay meet is a great way to start the season for any team. Every event of the meet is a different relay. So, each time you step up on the blocks, you are competing alongside two or three of your teammates. The outcome of your race is completely dependent upon the `team effort' of your relay. It helps to know that if you don't have the swim of your life, you've got your teammates to back you up. If you have a great swim, you've helped to put your teammates in a position to win. There is a sense of camaraderie in relays that cannot be achieved by swimming individual events alone. And, it's just plain fun.
"Friday's meet will be a good warm-up for Saturday. The team will get to see both of the other teams compete and be able to mentally and physically prepare for their individual races on Saturday."
On her team's preparation up until this point
"We're finishing up week seven of training with no real competition to speak of. It's time to race and our team is ready. I could feel the excitement from the girls today and I think it will carry through the rest of the weekend. We're looking to our returners for experience and excited to see what the newcomers can do against and SEC program and a strong Sun Belt competitor."
