
Mainguy Earns Academic All-Conference USA

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane cross country runner Mike Mainguy earned his second selection to the Conference USA All-Academic Team on Wednesday (Dec. 8). The junior neuroscience major carries a 3.944 in the classroom and was a mainstay in the lineup this season for the Green Wave.
Mainguy competed in all six of the team's meets this season, finishing five of those races, and was the top finisher for the Green Wave once during the 2010 season. Mainguy set a new career-best at the 8K distance during the Conference USA Championships, covering the course in 27:01.00. He was the team's leading runner at the LSU Invitational, finishing 27th overall, and scored for the Olive and Blue five times.
In the classroom, the junior is a two-time Conference USA Academic Medal recipient, going to any Conference USA student-athlete that maintains a 3.75 GPA, has been selected to the C-USA Commissioners Honor Roll twice and earned the Tulane Male Student-Athlete of the Year Award for the 2009-2010 academic year.
The junior was named to both the Conference USA All-Academic Cross Country squad and earned a selection to the All-Academic Track and Field team during his sophomore campaign.
