IRVING, Texas - The Tulane cross country program earned their first weekly Conference USA honor since 2007, as Julia Whitrock was named the C-USA Runner of the Week on Tuesday (Sept. 28). The redshirt-junior was the individual champion at the LSU Invitational and set a new career-best in the process to earn her first weekly honor from the conference office.
Whitrock covered the 6-kilometer course at Highland Road Park in a personal best 20:53.40, chopping over one minute off her previous best, on a course that she competed on as a high school. The Baton Rouge, La. native crossed the finish line first - besting 109 competitors - and has paced the Olive and Blue in each of their last two meets. She set personal bests in the 6K at LSU and the 5K at the Crimson Classic.
The redshirt-junior is the first Tulane cross country runner to earn the Conference USA Cross Country Runner of the Week honor since 2007. The last Green Wave harrier to earn the award was Aubrey Phillips on September 11, 2007.
