On if she felt the team accomplished what it set out to do tonight at LSU
"We did a pretty good job of transferring some of the technical work we've been doing in practice to our races. Both of our relays were strong tonight. This is by far the best season opener we've had yet."
On opening the season against a team like LSU and what it means for the Wave the rest of the way
"LSU is a Top 20 program. They're a well prepared team that can swim very fast four swimmers deep in almost every event. Our girls had a great showing against a top-five SEC program. We've got a lot of work to do in the upcoming weeks. But, overall this was a very solid meet for us."
On the performance of senior Hagar Elgendy
"Hagar posted her best unrested performances ever tonight. Her season really began in April last year. Hagar and I spent a lot of time working one-on-one throughout the spring and summer. She has some very big goals for this year. Her focus in the pool, in her academics and in her faith is improving daily, and I think she's really establishing herself as a strong team and community leader."
On the performance of freshman Claire Schelske
"Each day in practice has increased my expectations of Claire. She's one of the hardest workers on the team and she completes even the toughest practices with a smile. Tonight, she struggled with a few modifications that we've made with her stroke and still managed to swim pretty well. I think Claire is going to do some great things for this team in her freshman season."
