NEW ORLEANS - Idan Mark, a sophomore on the Tulane men's tennis team, is back in the national rankings this week, receiving a No. 105 singles ranking by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), it was released on Tuesday.
Mark, Tulane's No. 1 singles player this spring in his first season on competition, has a 16-10 overall singles record and is 9-6 in dual matches. Mark has won two of three since dropping a close match to then-No. 67 Ivan Salec of Radford on March 12.
The Hod Hasharon, Israel, native, was ranked as the No. 8 first-year player in the nation by the ITA prior to the spring.
Mark's average in the ITA rankings of 4.72 is just .05 behind the three players in front of him in the rankings and .26 away from cracking the top 100. Mark was ranked 89th earlier this spring before a pair of close losses at South Florida and UCF.
Tulane travels to Hattiesburg, Miss., this weekend for the Conference USA Shootout. The Green Wave will face East Carolina Friday, UAB Saturday and host Southern Miss Sunday.
