Tulane Football Completes Second Day of Fall Camp

New Orleans - The Tulane football team went through a three-hour, 16-period practice on Tuesday under overcast skies at the Westfeldt Practice Facility and continued to focus on passing and special teams. The Green Wave completed its second practice of fall camp just ahead of a steady dose of thunder and lightning that invaded the Uptown area during the late morning.
A constant theme that has developed during the first three days is the great overall shape of the team, which is allowing for the Wave to practice at a higher tempo, and the progress and athleticism of the freshmen class.
"Today was impressive because we have a lot more offense in and we are not holding back," Tulane head coach Curtis Johnson said. "We were able to install a couple of more coverages and tomorrow we'll put in the blitz packages. The guys know what we are doing. We didn't have very many plays where we had to abort, so we are doing pretty well."
"I think this is the most in shape I have been personally and the team as well going into a training camp," TU senior defensive end Austen Jacks said. "I think we've had a good couple of days."
"The young guys really want to play and Coach CJ has talked about this isn't going to be a redshirt program so these freshmen are working hard to learn what they have to do to get on the field," Green Wave junior running back Orleans Darkwa said.
Tulane returns to the practice field on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at 8:30 a.m. and the players and coaches will participate in its annual media day later in the day from 1 -2 p.m. in the Hall of Fame Room at the James W. Wilson Jr. Center.
