Bowling Completes Season at Music City Classic

SMYRNA, Tenn. - Tulane's bowling team completed its second season this past weekend with a 5-9 record at the 2013 Columbia 300 Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt at the Smyrna Bowling Center.
The Green Wave (29-52) earned three wins on the opening day during the Baker total pin format. Tulane got past St. Francis (NY), 634-609, Delaware State, 686-671, and Howard, 558-447.
Saturday's team format was not as kind for the Green Wave, getting just one win in the five matches. Tulane defeated Bethune-Cookman, 790-750, in the day's fourth match.
Tulane closed out the weekend with one win on Sunday in the tournament format. The Green Wave defeated Southern, 4-1, in the Baker best-of-seven format.
Jessica Stricklin led Tulane with a 185.2 average in Saturday's team format. She rolled a team-best 243 in the match with Fairleigh Dickinson. Kelly Doucette posted a 176.7 average, including a 217 against Vanderbilt.
Tulane's season is completed and the squad earned 14 more wins than last year. As a team, the Green Wave averaged 162.24 pins during the team format matches and Stricklin led the way with a 171.4 average.
