Tulane Head Coach Curtis Johnson
Opening statement:
"My hat goes off to Coach O'Leary and his staff. I think they do an outstanding job. They are probably the best team in this conference. I think they played well, especially defensively. They never let us get on track. Both of the quarterbacks were good. They played well and ran the ball well. They had some big timely plays on offense. I thought we played much better on defense. I was proud of our defense. Offensively, we have to jump start our passing game. We ran some stuff pretty well. They lowered the box. We just have to complete some of the passes. Special teams didn't hurt us. I thought we made some plays on special teams. They had that one return. We had a couple guys in there because a couple guys got hurt. Special teams for the most part was pretty good."
On the score at halftime:
"It was very frustrating. It should have been 21. We just didn't take advantage of some of the turnovers the defense got us. We have to get to the point offensively where we can do something when the defense gets us the ball."
On the officiating on the last play of the game:
"I have to take a look at it. It looked like that ball would have been caught. You always want to blame somebody else. We had opportunities to win the game. They were just the better team today."
On when they were down 20-6:
"Our defense played well. I was happy with the play calling. They all did a great job. Our defense was pretty physical. Some things didn't work. At that time we thought we had a chance."
Tulane Redshirt Freshman Cornerback Parry Nickerson
On the defense:
"I think we did a great job, we just had a few mistakes that we need to fix."
On missed tackle that led to touchdown:
"I was just playing the wrong technique. You have to have amnesia, so I just moved on to the next play and tried to make a play for the defense."
Tulane Senior Quarterback Nick Montana
On not being able to convert final possession:
"It's real frustrating. We played against a really good opponent. You want that scenario, unfortunately we didn't get it."
On his two interceptions:
"The first one the cornerback just made a good play, jumped inside of it, I think he got it with one hand. The other one I just needed to throw away."
On his team's effort:
"We had a bunch of opportunities to come out with a win against a really good opponent. We played hard. We played a full game. I was proud of everybody that we did not give in. We just kept pushing."
Tulane Sophomore Linebacker Nico Marley
On his team's performance:
"We played well. We still have to work on a few things. That long drive in the second quarter, we can't let that happen."
On Tulane's Defense forcing turnovers:
"It's something our defense prides itself on. We know we're not the biggest defense but turning over the ball gives us a great advantage. That's what separates us from other teams. We just do what we can do on defense. You can't control everything."
