HUNTSVILLE, Texas - Fresh off claiming the first bowling title in school history last week, the Tulane bowling team will look to carry that momentum to the lanes this weekend for the TRACK Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston State at the Emerald Lanes.
The Green Wave (24-16) earned the title last weekend at the ASU Hornet Classic in Alabama by posting nine wins and taking the bracket with a pair of victories on the final day. Hannah Ryan earned All-Tournament honors with her 210.80 average during the team format.
"The ladies are looking forward to finishing the semester out strong after a successful tournament in Montgomery," Tulane head coach Hayley Veitch said. "Although we will be bowling in another strong field we are confident that we can stay competitive with any team. This can be achieved by picking up spares and making consistent shots in order to keep up with the changing lane conditions." The field for the fourth-annual Kat Klash will feature 18 schools including 10 ranked programs. Host and third-ranked Sam Houston will welcome top-ranked Nebraska, No. 2 Arkansas State, No. 6 Central Missouri, No. 9 Stephen F. Austin, No. 13 North Carolina A&T, No. 16 McKendree, No. 18 Alabama State, No. 19 Delaware State and No. 20 Monmouth.
This year's Kat Klash returns to the normal schedule of six baker total pins matches on Friday, six five-person traditional team contests on Saturday and baker best-of-seven match bracket play on Sunday.
Tulane is led into the weekend by freshman Michelle Ng's 194.50 total pin average.
After this weekend, the Green Wave bowlers will be off until the New Year when they return to the lanes for the Arkansas State Mid-Winter Invitational on Jan. 16-18 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
