Bowling Wins Nine at TRACK Kat Klash
Nov 24, 2014 | Women's Bowling
HUNTSVILLE, Texas - History continues to be made on the lanes for the Tulane bowling team and this past weekend was no different for the fourth-year program. The Green Wave posted a school record nine wins at the TRACK Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston State at the Emerald Lanes.
The Green Wave (33-22), a week removed the program's first tournament title, earned three Baker format wins on Friday, five team game wins on Saturday and one win in bracket play on Sunday.
"Overall a 9-6 record was the best result for the weekend based on how we bowled," Tulane head coach Hayley Veitch said. "The lane condition was challenging for our style of play but the ladies did extremely well playing out of their comfort zone. We finished the semester two wins away from beating the total wins from our entire last season. We will use this to continue the momentum for our future tournaments."
In addition to the team success, sophomore Angela Falgoust placed 11th out of 117 bowlers in the individual standings with a 200.1 total pin average in the six team games on Saturday. Falgoust opened Saturday by rolling a career-best 241 to help Tulane to a, 947-885, win over Adelphi.
The Green Wave also posted team wins over No. 19 Delaware State (968-920), No. 20 Monmouth (929-801), UAB (889-867) and Adelphi again (806-802).
The three Baker wins came over Grambling State (801-624), Jackson State (894-812) and Texas Southern (900-887).
Sunday's bracket play saw Tulane fall to Prairie View twice, but defeat Jackson State to finish 14th out of the 18 team field.
After this weekend, the Green Wave bowlers will be off until the New Year when they return to the lanes for the Arkansas State Mid-Winter Invitational on Jan. 16-18 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
