NEW ORLEANS - A season of firsts continues for the Tulane bowling team as the fourth-year program received a national ranking by the National Ten Pin Coaches Association for the first time, it was released by the organization on Monday.
The Green Wave, with a 33-22 record this season, cracked the top 20 at 20th with 36 points. Tulane sits just below No. 19 Norfolk State with their 38 points. Nebraska remained in the poll's top spot with 785 points.
"This is a great honor to be recognized by the coaches," Tulane head coach Hayley Veitch said. "The ladies have worked very hard during the fall and have accomplished so much. They know there is still a long road ahead and a lot of work to be done."
Tulane's 33 wins after four tournaments this season are just two shy of the total number of wins for the entire 2013-14 campaign. The Green Wave also claimed the program's first tournament title by winning the Alabama State Hornet Classic on Nov. 16.
Tulane will be off until the New Year when they return to the lanes for the Arkansas State Mid-Winter Invitational on Jan. 16-18 in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
