Season Prep: Team Retreat
Oct 2, 2015 | Women's Swimming and Diving
With exactly one week until the Tulane swimming & diving team begins the 2015-16 season we take a look back at its team retreat earlier this fall. This is the third year the program is under the direction of head coach Katie Robinson and the third time the squad has held the team-bonding event. Unlike years past, this team retreat kept the student-athletes in New Orleans this year and helped them get to know their home away from home a little better.
Every year the team takes time early in the fall to build relationships between all members, new and old, and create a solid foundation for the year ahead. In a sport that relies so much on individual performance, both the student-athletes and coaches know how important building a strong unit is to the success of the future.
During the 2015 team retreat the squad embarked on a scavenger hunt in the French Quarter and Central Business District (CBD) in New Orleans. The team took group pictures as the crossed each task off the list throughout the adventure. Later the squad came together for dinner and the group recapped some TED Talks they watch on their own before the weekend. As a group, the team and staff also created vision boards to help brainstorm and display some of their individual and team goals for the upcoming year. The weekend as a whole has proved to be a great opportunity for everyone involved to prepare for the year ahead in more ways than just competition.
The Green Wave begin their season on Friday, Oct. 9, traveling to LSU for a 5 p.m. meet.
