Tulane Golf Concludes Fall Slate at Alamo Invitational this Weekend

NEW ORLEANS - Tulane’s women’s golf team will look to conclude its fall schedule on a high note this weekend when it participates in the Alamo Invitational, Sunday-Tuesday, Oct. 25-27, at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.
The event is hosted by UTSA and features a group of teams consisting of Arkansas, Baylor, Florida, Houston, LSU, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, SMU, TCU, Texas A&M, Texas State, Texas Tech, Tulane, UTSA and Wisconsin.
The field will play 18 holes each day on the par-72, 6,450-yard course, beginning on Sunday at 11 a.m. while Monday’s second round is slated for an 8:30 a.m. tee time and Tuesday’s final round will commence with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m.
Tulane will send in a line-up featuring the senior trio of Silvia Garces, Madison Opfer and Emily Penttila, along with the freshmen duo of Abbie Cantwell and Laura Munoz.
Penttila represented her home country of Finland last week at the 2015 Spirit International Amateur Championships, Oct. 12-14, at the Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas. A native of Helsinki, Penttila led Finland to a third-place finish out of 20 countries with a combined 54-hole total of 15-under 201.
