NEW ORLEANS - Tulane third-year head coach Lorne Don announced today the signing of four highly decorated prep golfers, including Ebba Bjornberg, Gabrielle Correia, Elise Genoux and Haydyn Gibson.
“One of the great things about this class is they love Tulane and have demonstrated a strong desire to compete for a conference and national title each year,” Don said. “This group is eager to begin their own legacy and leave their footprint on our women's golf program, as well as the university as a whole. Each player excels both in the classroom and on the golf course and truly exemplifies a Tulane “student-athlete.”
A 5’10” right-hander from Falsterbo, Sweden, Bjornberg attended Sundsgymnasiet, where she not only played golf but started a youth company to help raise money to fund research to find a cure for Ebola.
On the links, she prepped for Coach Per Johansson and helped Sweden finish third at the 2014 European Girls Team Championship. That same year, Ebba led her club to victory at the JSM Swedish Junior Team Championship and had a fifth place individual showing at the prestigious Doral Publix Junior in Miami, Fla.
In 2015, she placed fifth in the Irish Girls U18 and led her team to the 2014 Swedish School Championship, the school’s first title in 14 years.
“Ebba is a phenomenal young talent who began her competitive playing career a little later than
