Tulane Game 11

Dallas, Texas
Saturday's meeting between Tulane and SMU marked the 22nd meeting between the two schools, and the first meeting since 2012. Despite tonight's loss, Tulane still leads the series 13-9.
With his third punt on the evening, senior P Peter Picerelli moved into a first-place tie with Chip Clark (1990-93) in Tulane history for career punts with 249. He remains second behind Clark with 9,887 career punting yards. Picerelli needs 30 yards to tie that record.
Sophomore K Andrew DiRocco missed his first field goal of the season in the first quarter when he had a 40-yard attempt blocked and returned for a touchdown. DiRocco had been 7-for-7 on the season to that point.
The blocked field goal by SMU was the first by a Tulane opponent since Syracuse's John Raymon blocked one on Sept. 21, 2013.
The field goal block returned for a touchdown was the first allowed by Tulane since Andre Watson of Southern Miss returned one for 77 yards on a C.J. Bailey block in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Oct. 24, 2009.
Redshirt-sophomore RB Sherman Badie returned Tulane's first kickoff 30 yards, the longest kickoff return by the Green Wave on the season.
Sophomore RB Dontrell Hilliard's 36-yard run in the third quarter was his sixth run from scrimmage this season of 20-plus yards, leading the team.
Tulane posted 4.0 tackles for loss on the evening, giving the Green Wave 84 on the season. Tulane entered the game ranked first in The American in the category and eighth nationally.
For just the sixth time in head coach Curtis Johnson's 48-game tenure as head coach at Tulane, the Green Wave failed to notch a turnover on defense.
Nine Tulane players extended their double-digit starting streaks on Saturday at SMU: OG Chris Taylor (26), LB Nico Marley (24), OG Colton Hanson (23), DT Tanzel Smart (23), DE Royce LaFrance (22), CB Parry Nickerson (22), LB Jarrod Franklin (11), OT Todd Jacquet (11) and WR Teddy Veal (11).
Redshirt-freshman CB Donnie Lewis Jr. carried out the No. 18 Flag in honor of former Green Wave player Devon Walker.
Tulane's game captains for Saturday's contest at SMU were sophomore DT Sean Wilson, sophomore K Andrew DiRocco and redshirt-junior OL Colton Hanson.
