Tulane Hosts UConn on Homecoming at Yulman Stadium on Saturday

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane Green Wave (2-6, 1-4 The American | West) return home following a two-game road swing and will host UConn (4-5, 2-3 The American | East) in their annual homecoming game on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Yulman Stadium. Kick-off is slated for 3 p.m. CST/4 p.m. EST and the contest will air on ESPNews.
In its second season of playing back on campus, Tulane is in search of its first homecoming win. Last season, the Green Wave dropped their inaugural homecoming contest at Yulman Stadium to Memphis (38-7).
Tulane’s last homecoming win came in its final season at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in 2013. Senior All-American kicker Cairo Santos, who now kicks for the Kansas City Chiefs, nailed a 27-yard field goal as time expired to lift the Green Wave to a thrilling 24-21 win over North Texas.

The Game:
- The Green Wave are 2-2 overall at home this season, including 1-1 in American play. Tulane downed UCF (45-31) in its league opener on Oct. 3 but fell to No. 24 Houston (42-7) in its last home conference game on Oct. 16.
- Through the first eight games of the year, Tulane has faced six opponents that were either nationally ranked or receiving votes at the time of the game.
- The eight opponents’ combined record entering this week is 38-10 and each of those teams have been nationally ranked at one point this season.
- Tulane returns home after playing three of its last contests on the road, including at (RV) Temple, at (RV) Navy and at No. 16 Memphis last week.
Series History:
-Saturday’s game marks the second all-time meeting between Tulane and UConn and the Green Wave lead the series, 1-0.
- UConn is making its second consecutive visit to Yulman Stadium.
- The Tulane roster features one player from Connecticut- sophomore defensive end Trey Camissa from Greenwich- while UConn does not have a player from Louisiana on its current roster.
About Tulane:
- Redshirt-quarterback Tanner Lee is expected to return under center for the Green Wave against UConn. Lee missed last week’s game at No. 16 Memphis with an injury. He also sat out Tulane’s contest against No. 24 Houston with an injury. In six starts this season, Lee has completed 57.8 percent (107-of-185) of his attempts for 1,178 yards and eight touchdowns.
- Sophomore running back Dontrell Hilliard scored a pair of touchdowns last week at No. 16 Memphis and now has a rushing touchdown in the last three games and has a team-best six on the year on the ground. Hilliard leads the Green Wave in rushing attempts (72), rushing yards (389) and touchdowns. He also has the longest run from this scrimmage with an 85-yard scoring scamper against Maine.
- Sophomore receiver Teddy Veal its tops on the squad in receptions (35), receiving yards (431) and is tied with redshirt-junior receiver Devon Breaux for touchdown receptions with three each.
- Defensively, junior linebacker Eric Thomas leads Tulane in tackles with 55, while senior defensive end Royce LaFrance has a team-best 10.0 tackles for lost yardage (TFL), including 5.0 sacks. LaFrance’s 1.3 TFLs per game ranks fifth in the league and 53rd

- UConn (4-5, 2-3 The American) is coming off a 31-13 win at home over East Carolina last Friday. The Huskies are currently fourth in the American’s East Division and are 1-3 overall away from home, including 1-1 in league road games.
- Quarterback Bryant Shirreffs has thrown for 1,907 yards with eight touchdowns and six interceptions and has completed 61.6 percent of his attempts (149-of-242).
