Football's Curtis Johnson Participates In 'Men In Kilts'
Mar 16, 2015 | Football
NEW ORLEANS - Entering his fourth season as the head coach of the Tulane University football program, Curtis Johnson has long been a student of the game and has made it his life's commitment to excellence on the gridiron.
Off the field, the leader of the Green Wave team is often involved in charitable events and Johnson is one of 13 local, high-profile individuals to participate in the "Men In Kilts" program to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater New Orleans.
"It's always important to be a part of the community and help in any way you can," Johnson said. "I'm honored to be a part of the `Men In Kilts' program and I encourage everyone to give what they can to an organization that has done a tremendous service over the years."
"Men In Kilts" is an effort to keep families together in their time of greatest need, and fans can donate to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater New Orleans by voting for Johnson and the other participants. Each vote is a $10 donation, and the money will be used to help families with children facing serious medical crisis. A Ronald McDonald House is designed to be a home away from home for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child in need of specialized medical treatment at little or no cost.
Ronald McDonald Houses are built on the idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child - not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest. The organization believes that when a child is hospitalized, the love and support of family is as powerful as the strongest medicine prescribed.
By staying at a Ronald McDonald House, parents also can better communicate with their child's medical team and keep up with complicated treatment plans when needed. They can also focus on the health of their child, rather than grocery shopping, cleaning or cooking meals.
To vote for Johnson, log onto the Internet at https://rmhc-nola.org/kilts/coachcj. A box will appear for fans to enter the number of votes they wish to cast with the default value of 1. Fans can enter a higher number of votes with each costing $10. Votes and donations are taken on-line only. Payments will be processed by PayPal and may be made either by credit card without creating a PayPal account, or by using an existing PayPal account.
The winner of the "Men In Kilts" program will be announced on April 18 at The Irish House, on 1432 St. Charles Avenue.
