BRADENTON, Fla. - Today's opening round of the 2015 NCAA Championships will continue into Saturday morning as lightning strikes at the Concession Golf Club forced the suspension of the first round at 7:15 p.m. EST. The groups will return to the course on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. EST to complete the first round.
Tulane joined UC Davis and UNLV for the first round and the groups began the day from the first hole at 1:30 p.m. EST. The field was halted at 3:45 p.m. due to lightning strikes and resumed an hour later.
Prior to the last set of lightning strikes, sophomore Belen Goicoechea and junior Madison Opfer each made it to the clubhouse, but junior Emily Penttila, senior Gemma Dryburgh and junior Silvia Garces will each return Saturday morning to complete their holes before beginning the second round.
Tulane's second round is slated to begin at 9 a.m. EST.
