
Tulane's Dryburgh, Penttila named to All-Louisiana First Team

New Orleans - The Tulane golfing duo of Gemma Dryburgh and Emily Penttila were each named to the 2015 Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) Women's Golf first team, while Green Wave head coach Lorne Don shared the state's top coaching honor, as it was announced today following a vote of the university sports information directors from around the state.
A native of Aberdeen, Scotland, Dryburgh concluded her career as a four-team selection to the All-LSWA first team, while Penttila, who hails from Helsinki, Finland, is a three-time performer to the all-state first team.
This past season, Dryburgh and Penttila led the Green Wave to their third straight NCAA Championship, where the team posted a 16th place finish. Dryburgh and Penttila were each named to the American Athletic Conference first team and both golfers received American Women's Golf Player of the Week honors on one occasion. Dryburgh led the Green Wave with a 74.33 scoring average and Penttila was second with a 74.52.
In his second season at Tulane, Don received LSWA Coach of the Year honors for the second consecutive year and after leading the Green Wave to NCAA Regional play and to the NCAA Championships in as many seasons.
Don guided the Wave to a fifth-place finish in regional play and Tulane posted five Top-5 finishes, including a tie for first place at the prestigious Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, and the Green Wave ranked as high as No. 23 nationally (Golfstat.com).
Don shared the LSWA Coach of the Year honor with LSU head coach Karen Bahnsen.
