
142 Tulane Student-Athletes Named to American All-Academic Team

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - On Thursday morning, Commissioner Mike Aresco of the American Athletic Conference announced the names of over 2,100 student-athletes from across the league who have been selected to the 2014-15 American All-Academic Team. After completing its first year in the new conference, Tulane checked in with 142 All-Academic student-athletes.
Nominations for the All-Academic Team are submitted by each of the American Athletic Conference's member institutions. To be eligible for the honor a nominee must have completed in an American Athletic Conference-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester credits.
There were a total of 2,113 honorees for the 2014-15 academic year. The nominations were reviewed and approved by the American Athletic Conference Academic Affairs Committee.
The following is a numbers breakdown of each of Tulane's sports for all-academic status: Baseball (13), Football (30), Men's Basketball (2), Men's Tennis (4), Men's Cross Country/Track & Field (8), Women's Basketball (9), Women's Golf (3), Women's Cross Country/Track & Field (34), Swimming & Diving (21), Women's Tennis (8), Volleyball (10).
