NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane women's swimming & diving team and head coach Katie Robinson have announced their schedule for the 2015-16 season. The squad is coming off a fourth-place finish at its first American Athletic Conference Championships last season, returning much of its top talent. Tulane will host three meets at the Reily Center and make three trips to Houston through the season, with the final being for league championships.
"We had a great finish to last season and I am looking forward to having almost all of our point scorers back for this season," Robinson said. "I know what it takes to get to the top and we are going to work hard again this year by putting our emphasis on being a team, detailed training in practice, and by daring greatly. We intend to have a lot of fun in the process and I can't wait to get the season started."
The Green Wave will begin the season with a trip to LSU on Friday, Oct. 9 at 5 p.m., before traveling to West Florida the following weekend. Tulane will swim against the host school, as well as Air Force and University of Arkansas-Little Rock on Oct. 16 and 17.
Vanderbilt will come to New Orleans on Saturday, Oct. 24 for the Green Wave's first home meet of the season, set to start at 11 a.m. The squad will remain at home and host SMU on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 10 a.m.
While the swimmers head to Houston for a three-day invitational, the divers will travel to Atlanta for a diving invitational at Georgia Tech from Nov. 19-21. The team will come together again for one final meet before the New Year. Tulane will travel to Alabama on Saturday, Dec. 5 to take on the Crimson Tide at 3 p.m.
The Green Wave will set out for Clearwater, Florida for a six-day training trip in early January before embarking on the second half of the season. Tulane will compete in the Reily Center one final time as it hosts North Florida on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 11 a.m.
The squad will round out the regular season with a four-team meet at Houston on Jan. 29 and 30, before returning to the city for the American Conference Championships, which will take place Feb. 17-20.
The team will get right back into things as the fall semester begins. Along with various meetings during the first two weeks of class, the Green Wave will begin training on August 31. The squad will also participate in its third annual team retreat over Labor Day weekend, focusing on team building and team identity.
