NEW ORLEANS - Tulane’s golf team combined for a 28-over 316 total for a
Tulane entered the day with Penttila tied for first place and the team just four strokes off the lead.
But the final round was not kind to the Green Wave. Penttila’s 6-over 78 was the lowest round of the day by a Tulane player.
Senior Silvia Garces, who played as an individual, shot a 7-over 79 and finished in ninth place to give the Wave a pair of players in the top 10. Freshmen Sofia Goicoechea posted a 15th-place
Notre Dame claimed the team title with a 14-stroke win over tournament host, Michigan
Toledo’s Sathika Ruenreong took home individual medalist honors, finishing even for the event.
Tulane will have a quick turnaround for its next tournament. The Green Wave returns to action at the Mason Rudolph Championship, Sept. 18-20, at the Legends Club in Nashville, Tenn.
