NEW ORLEANS – Tulane swimming & diving head coach Katie Robinson announced the addition of Katherine "Kate" McDonald to the Green Wave's student-athlete recruiting class for the 2017-18 season.
"Kate is a wonderfully strong young woman who we can't wait to add to our roster next year," Robinson said.
McDonald, born in San Antonio, Texas, hails from Evergreen, Colorado, where she attended Evergreen Senior High School. As a freshman, McDonald helped her team win the 4A State Championship for the first time in her school's history. McDonald earned 2016 All-State honors in the 500 free, as well as 2016 Scholastic All-American and 2014 All-Conference recognition in the 500 free.
"She will add strength to our mid-distance freestyle group immediately and assist our team in the 400 Individual medley as well as the 200 breaststroke," Robinson said. "Kate is an incredibly intelligent young woman who fits our academic team goals as well. Between the athletic fit and the academic fit, we feel Kate will easily blend well with our team and at our university. Kate has been a pleasure to get to know through the recruiting process and will bring a great mentality and cheerful attitude to Tulane."
