NEW ORLEANS – Tulane swimming & diving head coach Katie Robinson announced the addition of Courtney Barker, as part of the Green Wave's student-athlete recruiting class for the 2017-18 academic year.
"Our whole team is together in saying we can't wait for Courtney to arrive in the fall," Robinson said.
Barker, who has swam competitively for eight years, comes to New Orleans from Gurnee, Illinois, where she attends Warren Township High School. Barker has served as swim team captain since her junior year, when she guided the squad to the State Championship and earned All-State and All-American honors.Â
"We are thrilled to welcome Courtney to our team this coming year," Robinson said. "She brings strength and a ton of potential in the sprint freestyle events as well as the backstroke events. We see Courtney improving drastically during her four years with the Green Wave and being a key component in our relays as well. In getting to know her over the past months, we all can tell she will be an asset to our team in more ways that just in the pool. She is incredibly driven and a very focused young woman who is excited about the team environment that we've built here at Tulane."
