NEW ORLEANS - Tulane’s 16th-ranked beach volleyball squad returns to action this weekend with four matches at the Gamecock Challenge in Columbia, S.C. The event will take place at Wheeler Beach and offers free admission.

The Green Wave (4-1) will play two contests on Saturday, including match-ups with Coastal Carolina (12 p.m.) and host South Carolina (4 p.m.). Tulane returns to action Sunday with contests vs. Mercer (8 a.m.) and UAB (2 p.m.).

“We’ve had a great week of practice and looked at a lot of film so our goal is to build on last week’s performance,” Tulane head coach Wayne Holly said. “We may have won four out of five contests during our opening weekend but there isn’t a player on this team who thinks that’s the best we can do. We are headed into this weekend very hungry and looking to win as many matches as we can. We’re playing some really good teams, including nationally ranked South Carolina which beat us twice last year, so we’re looking forward to avenging those losses and work on improving the consistency of our play.”

Tulane moved up from 18 to the No. 16 team in the country in the latest DiG Magazine Top-20 Poll.
