NEW ORLEANS - Senior Emily Penttila posted a sixth-place overall finish with a 3-over 219 total while the Green Wave was 12th at the DAC/SMU Invitational at the Dallas Athletic Club in Dallas, Texas.
Penttila, the nation’s 33rd-ranked golfer, produced her sixth top 10 finish of the season and now owns 16 rounds of par or better with her 1-under 71 during the opening round on Friday.
Senior Madison Opfer tied Penttila, each with a 1-over 73, for Tulane’s low score during the second round and senior Silvia Garces logged the low score with a 1-over 73 during today’s final round.
“This was another great tournament and finish for Emily against a very good field on a challenging course and it really shows her hard work is paying off,” Tulane head coach Lorne Don said. “From a team standpoint, this was not the result we were hoping for. We have a lot to work on before the conference championships in a couple of weeks.”
Oklahoma State claimed the team title while UNLV was the runner-up. Washington finished in third place, host SMU was fourth and Baylor rounded out the top five teams.
Kansas’ Yupaporn Kawinpakor was the individual medalist.
