Football's Hilliard Placed on Doak Walker Award Watch List

Junior running back led Tulane in rushing during 2015 campaign
DALLAS – Tulane football junior Dontrell Hilliard has been named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List, announced the PwC SMU Athletic Forum on Thursday.
The award is presented annually to the nation's top collegiate running back.
Hilliard rushed 115 times for 646 yards (5.6 avg.) and six touchdown in addition to catching 23 passes for 267 yards (11.6 avg.) and one score as a sophomore in 2015. The native of Baton Rouge led the team in rushing attempts, rushing yardage, rushing touchdown, all-purpose yards and all-purpose yardage per game.
The PwC SMU Athletic Forum Board of Directors will name ten semifinalists on Nov. 16, and the Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee will cast votes to determine the three finalists, who will be announced on November 22.
The recipient of the 2016 Doak Walker Award will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Thursday, Dec. 8, on ESPN.
Tulane football opens the season at Wake Forest on Thursday, Sept. 1 at 6:00 p.m. CT on ESPN3. The following week, the Green Wave will open its home campaign against Southern on Sept. 10 at 7:00 p.m.
