Alumnus Makes Major Gift to Green Wave Club, Tulane Athletics
Sep 28, 2016 | General, Green Wave Club
NEW ORLEANS - Tulane alumnus Donald Peters and his wife Lora have announced plans to contribute $2.5 million to the Green Wave Club and Tulane Athletics.
This gift establishes a $2 million unrestricted facility enhancement fund for athletics, while $500,000 supports the Green Wave Club and specifically the Olive and Blue Society, which provides programmatic support for football and men's basketball. Essentially, the gift will be used to benefit every aspect of Tulane Athletics, from facilities to annual support.
"I wanted to make this gift as a call to other Tulanians," said Peters, a portfolio manager for T. Rowe Price and Baltimore resident. "The momentum is building, and I expect the excitement surrounding the Green Wave to continue. There is no better time to invest in the future of Tulane Athletics. The goal should be matching Tulane's strong academics with the same success in its athletic endeavors."
"The success of our athletics department depends on loyal supporters like Don and Lora who step up and play active roles in helping Tulane Athletics reach its goal of setting the standard in college athletics," said Ben Weiner Director of Athletics Chair Troy Dannen. "We thank them for their commitment to philanthropy and support of our student-athletes and our great university."
