NEW ORLEANS - Tulane swimming & diving will finish its regular season in the "Capital City," as the Green Wave travels to Baton Rouge to clash against LSU, Houston, and Rice on Friday, Jan 27 and Saturday, Jan 28. Day One of the meet will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, while Day Two has been changed to a 10 a.m. start on Saturday morning.
"At this point in the season, we're really focused on training and preparing the women for the American Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 15-18," head coach Katie Robinson said. "I expect us to continue to race tough and stick to the principles that we've worked on in practice. I'm excited to watch the women race and to see how they do in the various races we have this coming weekend."
While Tulane has not been in action since its final home meet of the regular season on Jan. 6 against Alabama, the Green Wave traveled to Hawaii for training during Tulane's academic winter break. Prior to the trip, sophomore Anise Muir delivered the best diving performance of her career in the Green Wave's 177-107 defeat, posting a score of 272.70 in the one-meter dive to earn a spot in the 2017 NCAA Zone D Diving Championships on March 6-8 in Columbia, Mo. The meet was also highlighted by senior Joy Jason and freshman Morgan Tacik's two second-place finishes. Jason came in second in the 100 breast (1:06.82) and 200 breast (2:26.37), while Tacik was the runner-up in the 1000 free (10:19.74) and 500 free (5:08.49).
"The winter training trip to Hawaii helpd re-energize the women's attitude and outlook, but we've been training them the hardest that we've trained them all season long over the past couple weeks," Robinson said. "Physically, they might be tired, but, mentally, they're strong. I'm excited to see the women push through the exhaustion they're going to feel physically because it'll make us stronger at the Conference Championships."
