VENICE, Fla. – The dream of making to the LPGA Tour is closer to reality for two former Tulane women's golfers as Gemma Dryburgh and Samantha Troyanovich finished in the top 80 of Stage II of LPGA Qualifying School.
Dryburgh was impressive over her four rounds at Plantation Golf and Country Club, shooting three-under (74-72-70-69=285) to finish tied for 15th. The Aberdeen, Scotland, native was error free in Sunday's final round, dropping birdies on the fourth, 10th and 16th holes. Troyanovich closed out play at six-over (74-69-77-74=294) to finish tied for 68th. The Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich., native battled throughout her four rounds, posting a three-under 69 in the second round with six birdies and three bogeys.
The Green Wave's other two former standouts competing, Emily Penttilä and Lili Alvarez, placed outside of the top 80 and will not move on to Stage III. Both retain Symetra Tour membership for the 2018 season.
Stage III of Q-School is scheduled for Nov. 29-Dec. 3 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla. The participants in Stage III will be vying for 20 full and 25 partial our LPGA Tour cards for the upcoming season.
