Nov 8, 2017 | Women's Bowling
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane bowling head coach Hayley Veitch announced Wednesday the signing of high school All-American Crystal Singh to a National Letter-of-Intent.
Â
Singh, a native of Coral Springs, Fla., was named to the 2016-17 Dexter/United State Bowling Congress High School Girls All-America Team as a junior. She was the only junior on the five-member girls All-America squad, which also included four seniors. The Coral Springs Charter School senior is a two-time Broward County Bowler of the Year and individual Florida High School State Champion.
Â
"We are extremely excited to add Crystal to our family," Veitch said. "She has a great bowling background with international experience bowling in Germany and Singapore, as well as the United States. Crystal brings high academic standards and a competitive attitude to perform on the lanes. I am looking forward to see the continue progression of the bowling program with her addition."
Â
Singh was named the 2017 Broward County Bowler of the Year by the Miami Herald and the 2016 Broward Country Bowler of the Year by the Sun Sentinel, and won the individual Florida state titles both years. She won Coral Springs' first individual state bowling championship, winning the third game of a best 2-of-3 title match by a 216-215 margin. She led Coral Springs to a school-best runner-up team finish at the state championship.
Â
In 2016, Singh bowled her first-ever 300 game, and hit a two-game series high of 536 and bowled a 217.5 season average. All three numbers were Broward County bowling records.
Â
In addition to her state honors, Singh also earned first place at the Florida State USBC Youth Tournament and at the Florida Junior Bowling Tour in 2017. In 2016, won first place at the Broward County high school district tournament, where she bowled a three-game series score of 741, and also earned titles at the Ryan Boyd Teen Masters Qualifier
