Bowling Ascends to No. 9 in NTCA Top 25 Poll

NTCAÂ Top 25 Poll
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane Bowling has garnered the first top-10 national ranking in program history, as the Green Wave is ranked No. 9 in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association Top 25 Poll released Wednesday.

Tulane moved up from 17th, where it was ranked in the NTCA preseason poll. The Green Wave performed well in the three tournaments during the fall, placing second in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Bowling Invitational, and picking up big victories over top-10 opponents.

The Wave collected wins over seven of the 10 top-ranked teams in the country at the time, including: No. 2 Nebraska (now ranked No. 1), No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 5 Sam Houston State, No. 6 Stephen F. Austin, No. 7 Maryland Eastern Shore, No. 9 Sacred Heart and No. 10 Central Missouri. Tulane also owns wins over No. 18 North Carolina A&T and No. 19 UAB.

Tulane is one of seven Southland Bowling League programs ranked in the NTCA Top 25, including No. 3 Arkansas State, No. 4 Vanderbilt, Not. 5 Sam Houston State, No. 7 Stephen F. Austin, No. 19 Louisiana Tech and No. 24 Monmouth.

The previous high national ranking for the Green Wave was No. 13 in the February poll last season.

Tulane begins the spring portion of the schedule Jan. 12-14 at the Arkansas State Mid-Winter Invitational in Jonesboro, Ark.
