
Two Women's Golfers Named WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Tulane women's golfers Sofia Goicoechea and Laura Munoz were among the 952 women's collegiate golfers recognized as Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars for the 2016-17 season.

A rising junior, Goicoechea played 24 rounds in eight tournaments and finished with a 76.50 scoring average last season. Her top finish was placing tied for 28th at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship. The Necochea, Argentina, native sports a 3.85 grade point average majoring in finance.

Also a rising junior, Munoz led the Green Wave in stroke average (75.03) last season. She posted Tulane's top individual finish, placing tied for 10th at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Championship in her 30 rounds across 10 tournaments. The Ibague, Colombia, native sports a 3.85 grade point average majoring in architecture.

To recognized as a member of the WGCA All-American Scholar Team, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50.
