NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University women's golf coach Lorne Don announced today the signing of Carlota Palacios to a National Letter of Intent. She will join the Green Wave for the start of the 2019-20 campaign.

Palacios arrives at Tulane from Vitoria, Spain, where she established herself as one of the nation's top amateur players, competing as a member of the Spanish National Team.
Â
"We are thrilled to be adding someone of Carlota's abilities to our women's golf program," Don said. "She brings a wealth of international experience and showed what she was capable of this summer with her fantastic play."
Â
Palacios' experience as a member of the Spanish National Team was highlighted with a performance at the 2018 Basque County Amateur Championship. She also posted a pair top 10 finishes during the 2018 campaign where she placed third at the Quadrangular tournament and took ninth at the Spanish Ladies Amateur Championship. She took ninth and at the 2017 Pais Vasco Championship where she finished runner up.
Â
Palacios also posted two wins at the Basque Country Amateur in 2018 and the U-18 Basque Regional Championship in 2017. She also posted three top ten finishes in 2018 with a second place finish at the Pais Vasco Championship, third place at the Quadrangular tournament against Germany, Italy and Sweden and an impressive ninth-place showing at the Spanish Ladies Amateur Championship.Â
Palacios also turned in strong performances at the Vasca Federation Cup and at the Landes Grand Prix in France. During the Vasca Federation Cup, Palacios advanced to the quarterfinals of Match Play. At the Ladies Grand Prix, she placed 15th and posted two rounds of 70.Â
"We are looking forward to the immediate impact she will have on our team and are excited to help her continue to develop," Don said. "Carlota also excels in the classroom and was a perfect fit for what Coach (Lisa) McCloskey and I were looking for."  Â
 Â
Off the course, Palacios was equally impressive academically. During her time at CEU Virgen Nina from 2015-17, she earned the school's top academic honor.
