
Tulane Swimming and Diving Stands in Third After Day Two of Phill Hansel Invitational

Day Two Results
HOUSTON – The Tulane swimming and diving team stands in third place after two days of competition in the Phill Hansel Invitational.
The Green Wave tally 589.50 team points heading into the third and final day of action in the water, ahead of New Mexico, Rice, Washington, Colorado State, Vanderbilt, Northern Colorado, U.S. Air Force Academy, UIW and North Texas.
Junior Olivia Johnson continued with her successful weekend on Saturday, placing first among 40 swimmers in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:12.76.
Senior Paris Zhang earned a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a 54.90 finals time, while sophomore Courtney Barker and senior Michelle Zelnick also earned top-ten finishes, checking in at seventh and 10th place with times of 55.86 and 55.70, respectively.
Zelnick also placed in the top 10 of the 200-yard freestyle, finishing in sixth with a time of 1:48.31.
The Olive and Blue also had a strong finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay, standing in fifth place with a 7:24.77 final time. Zelnick, Barker, Johnson and freshman Iza Pelka were the four who made up the team for the Green Wave.
Host Houston leads the meet after two days with 1,159 total points, followed by the University of Nevada Reno in second place with 596.
Tulane is set to finish action in the Phill Hansel Invitational on Sunday, with final competition beginning at 10 a.m.

Order of Events (All Times Central)
Finals will begin at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Diving preliminaries will begin at 12 p.m. and following the conclusion of preliminaries, there will be a consolation final.
