Mertz Named to CCSA Beach Volleyball All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS - Senior Madeline Mertz was named to the 2018 CCSA Beach Volleyball All-Academic Team, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
On the sand courts, she is in the midst of an outstanding senior season. Mertz, who hails from Peoria, Arizona, plays at the No. 1 position with sophomore Kaylie McHugh, where the pair have a 27-6 record this season, currently riding a 12-flight winning streak as they enter this weekend's CCSA Conference Championships.

NEW ORLEANS - Senior Madeline Mertz was named to the 2018 CCSA Beach Volleyball All-Academic Team, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
The All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the court and in the classroom. All the members of the team boast a 3.30 cumulative grade point average or better and participated in at least half of their team's matches.
"For Maddy to have demonstrated dominance in the classroom and on the courts is a phenomenal accomplishment," head coach Wayne Holly said. "I'm really proud of her for earning the academic award and modeling the very behavior that we wish to see in all of our players. She's set the standard for excellence in training, in focus and in competing at such a high level against our opponents' best pairs."
