NEW ORLEANS -Â The Tulane University women's golf team returns to action this Sunday, as it tees off in the 2018 Silverado Showdown in Napa, Calif. The three-day event will be held at the par 72, 6,201-yard Silverado Resort.
Â
The University of Oregon and Colorado University will serve as the tournament co-hosts. The Green Wave's trip out West marks first time Tulane has competed in the fifth annual event.
Â
"It's really exciting to head out West," head coach Lorne Don said. "We're excited to get out there and see the golf course – it's a PGA Tour golf course."
Â
Tulane will look to build off of its last outing where it posted its lowest three-round total of the spring, finishing the Clemson Invitational with a tournament total of 898.
Â
"I think we saw some great things in our last tournament at Clemson, especially from Laura (Munoz) and Jennifer (Rosenberg) and I think everyone is just looking to build on that," Don said.
Â
The Green Wave lineup for this weekend's tournament includes junior Laura Munoz at No. 1, sophomore Gabrielle Correia at No. 2, junior Sofia Goicoechea at No. 3, freshman Jennifer Rosenberg at No. 4 and sophomore Haydyn Gibson at No. 5.
Â
"We have the same five players going and each one of them did some great things and we just want to keep improving," Don said. "I think each tournament serves its own purpose in that respect, but obviously the year is winding down and we really made it one of our goals to being conference champions, so I think having a good week here will definitely help us as we head into that next week in Florida."
Â
Tulane is set to face arguably the toughest field it has seen all season with nine ranked opponents in the field, including four top-10 programs – No. 1 UCLA, No. 6 Texas, No. 9 USC and No. 10 Arizona State.Â
