Jun 28, 2018 | Women's Swimming and Diving
NEW ORLEANS – Four members of the Tulane University swimming and diving team received individual College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America honors this week.
Â
The Green Wave's most recent Team Scholar All-America recognition comes a week after the squad earned All-America honors by the CSCAA for posting a team grade point average of 3.506 during the 2018 spring semester.
Â
Green Wave student-athletes Olivia Johnson, Kate McDonald, Jordan Morling and Kaitlin Simpson each earned honorable mention recognition for their academic performance.
Â
"These women truly capture the spirit of being a student-athlete," head coach Katie Robinson said. "They have developed a work ethic that is second to none and deeply engrained in their character to benefit both their swimming and academic prowess. Â I am extremely proud of these women as they blaze the trail for more to follow."
Â
The award recognizes students that have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed at their respective NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The CSCAA selected a record 1,069 swimmers and divers for its Scholar All-America team. The selections were drawn from 181 colleges and universities across all NCAA Divisions.
In addition to the 1,069 first-team selections, 1,137 students were named as Honorable Mentioned selections. These students have similarly achieved a GPA of 3.50 and achieved a "B" time standard or competed at an NCAA Regional or Zone Diving qualifier.
Â
Founded in 1922, the CSCAA, the oldest organization of college coaches in America, is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming & diving at the collegiate level.
