Tulane Swimming and Diving Announces 2018-19 Schedule
Sep 27, 2018 | Women's Swimming and Diving
NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane University women's swimming and diving team released its complete 2018-19 schedule today.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Leah Stancil, the Green Wave will compete in eight regular-season meets, including three at home, before the American Athletic Conference Championships begin on Feb. 27-March 2 in Indianapolis.
"I'm really excited to see how our girls are going to compete," Stancil said. "They've been doing really well training and competing is just a different aspect of collegiate swimming and that's just another piece of the puzzle that will let me know where we are and to figure out the steps to where we want to be."
Tulane will open the season Oct. 6 as Houston visits Tulane dual meet at the Reily Student Recreation Center.
Â
Two weeks later, the Green Wave will hit the road and travel to Denver, Colorado to take part in the Dual-A-Pa-Looza Oct. 19-20.
Â
The following week, the Green Wave will welcome LSU and Loyola for a tri-meet that will begin at 5 p.m.
Â
"It's always fun to compete against teams that are from the same state, so swimming against teams from LSU and Loyola will be a great test," Stancil said. "I always consider these type of meets to be very exciting."
Â
On Nov. 3, Tulane will head to Statesboro, Georgia, to take on Georgia Southern.
Â
The Green Wave will close out the 2018 calendar year with a trip to the Phill Hansel Invitational at the University of Houston. The event will run from Nov. 15-17. Â
Â
"I'm really excited about all the competitions, specially the Phill Hansel Invitational because it will show us where we are in the training process and what we can improve upon and what we are doing really well," Stancil said.
Tulane opens 2019 with a tri-meet at home against West Florida and Loyola on Jan. 26 where it will celebrate Senior Day. The meet will begin at 3 p.m.
On Feb. 8-9, Tulane will head to Dallas to take on SMU for its final tune-up before the AAC Championships.
After the conference championships, NCAA Qualifying for diving zones will take place March 10-12, ahead of the CSCAA National Invitational and NCAA Championships, which has been slated for March 14-16 and March 20-23, respectively.
