Bowling Opens Season Ranked No. 14 in NTCA Preseason Poll

2019 NTCA Top 25 Preseason Poll
NEW ORLEANS, La. – On the opening day of practice for the 2019-20 season, the Tulane bowling team learned that the squad will head into the new season ranked No. 14 in the National Tenpin Coaches Association Top 25 Preseason Poll it was announced on Tuesday.

The Green Wave are one of five teams from the Southland Bowling League to be ranked in the top 15 of the poll, as the SBL has seven teams ranked in the top 25 with the season beginning in the next few weeks.

Tulane rose to a program-high ranking of No. 6 last season, finishing the year ranked at No. 14 as the squad ended the year making it to the second day of the SBL Championships in Dallas, Texas, back in March.

Coming in at No 1 is national runner-up Vanderbilt, followed by McKendree at No. 2, reigning national champion Stephen F. Austin at No. 3, Nebraska at No. 4 and Sam Houston State at No. 5. The top 10 rounds out with Arkansas State, Maryland Eastern Shore, North Carolina A&T, Farleigh Dickinson and Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Just in front of Tulane is Sacred Heart, Central Missouri, and Lincoln Memorial, with Delaware State coming in at No. 15. Saint Francis, Louisiana Tech, Maryville, UAB and Duquesne comprise the rest of the top 20.

The final five teams to make the cut include Mount St. Mary's, Adelphi, Youngstown State, LIU Brooklyn and Monmouth. Caldwell and Prairie View A&M both received votes.

Tulane opens the season October 18-20 at Colonial Lanes in Harahan in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Bowling Invitational. The 16-team event will feature eight of the top 25 teams in the country in the Green Wave, Vanderbilt, Sam Houston State, SFA, North Carolina A&T and others.
