Tulane Football Position Preview – Running Backs

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane football's running back room checks all the boxes.
Youth. Check.
Experience. Check.
Speed. Check.
Power. Check.
Depth. Check.
Talent. A big time check.
Tulane's ability to run the ball and run the ball well has been a staple under head coach Willie Fritz over the past three years at Tulane.
Since 2016, Tulane's rushing attack has posted the second (2018 – 2,836 yards), third (2017 – 2,778 yards) and fourth (2016 – 2,737) best single season rushing totals in program history.
With a unit that is arguably the deepest since Fritz arrived in 2016, the Green Wave running attack shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon.
The seven-man running back unit features three freshmen, one sophomore, one junior and two seniors.

THE UNIT
-Senior Darius Bradwell headlines this year's unit after he became just the sixth running back in program history last year to surpass 1,000 yards on the ground.
-As a junior in 2018, Bradwell rushed for 1,134 yards and 11 touchdowns.
-Fellow senior Corey Dauphine also returns to the lineup after he posted for a single season career highs in yards (785) and touchdowns (seven).
-Junior Stephon Huderson returns following a sophomore season that saw him rush for 281 yards.
-Sophomore Amare Jones made a name for himself during his freshman season, as he ranked second among all rookies in The American with 939 all-purpose yards.
-The Green Wave also will look to redshirt freshmen Cameron Carroll and Ygenio Booker to contribute in 2019.
-In addition, Tulane added freshman three-star running back Tyjae Spears to the 2019 Signing Class.
-Jamaal Fobbs begins his fourth season coaching the Green Wave running backs.

POSITIONAL HIGHLIGHTS
-Tulane returns all of its running backs from last year's team that posted 2,836 yards and 29 touchdowns.
-The Green Wave averaged 218.2 yards per game on the ground, which ranked 23rd among Football Bowl Subdivision teams and fifth in The American.
-Darius Bradwell finished the year on a high note as he earned Most Valuable Player honors in the 2018 AutoNation Cure Bowl.
-Tulane's rushing attack also proved to be one of the most explosive in the country as the Green Wave was tied for sixth nationally in rushes of 30 yards or more.
Tulane opens the 2019 season on Thursday, August 29 at home against FIU with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. The Green Wave are coming off a memorable 2018 campaign that was highlighted by a win in the AutoNation Cure Bowl and an American Athletic Conference West Division Co-Championship.
